Tillamook Head
Directions: From Highway 101, take the north exit for Cannon Beach and follow the Ecola State Park signs. Once in the park, proceed to the Indian Beach picnic area parking lot.
Length: 6 miles
The Hike: This hike follows the footsteps of Lewis and Clark to the farthest point they reached in their journey: Tillamook Head, a 1,000-foot-high cliff over-looking the Pacific.
Cape Lookout Trails
Directions: From Highway 101 (south of Tillamook), follow the signs to Cape Lookout.
Length:.25 (nature trail), 2.5 (cape trail)
The Hike: The Cape Lookout Nature Trail is self-guided with a series of stations detailing the forest plant life. The 2.5 mile trek out to the cape itself gives you a gorgeous panoramic view of the Oregon coast without much effort. This is also a popular camp site.
Saddle Mountain Summit Trail
Directions: From US 26, 8 miles NE of Necanicum Junction, follow the signs to Saddle Mountain State Park, and from there follow the signs to the trailhead.
Length: 2.5 miles
The Hike: This hike packs unparallel natural beauty into a short distance. There are flowers, trees, and some of the best views on the Oregon Coast. The trail can be steep at points but your effort will pay off.
Clatsop Loop Trail
Directions: From Highway 101, take the north exit for Cannon Beach and follow the Ecola State Park signs. Once in the park, proceed to the Indian Beach picnic area parking lot.
Length: 2 miles
The Hike: This trail was opened quite recently in honor of the bicentennial of Lewis and Clark’s Corps of Discovery journey. It follows a different section of their journey to Tillamook Head, actually retracing their footsteps with historical interpretation.
Cascade Head—point to point trail
Directions: North Trailhead, Falls Creek, is located south of Neskowin 1.0 miles. South Trailhead is located north of the Highway 101 and 18 junction 0.5 miles. The south trailhead is located at the corner of Hwy 101 and Three Rocks Road.
Length: 6 miles
The Hike: This takes you through to Siuslaw National Forest, paralleling Highway 101. It is a long route, and there are no spectacular views, but the forest life is interesting and the trees are quite beautiful.

Cascade Head—southern flank
Directions: From Highway 101, turn west onto Three Rocks Road. Park at the base of the hill in the boat ramp parking area and hike up the hill to the trailhead.

The Hike: This trail begins just west of the Sitka Center and goes out to Cascade Head along its southern flank. The hike passes through shady trees and over tiny brooks, until finally you emerge into the light above the Pacific Ocean. A great hike for kids of any age.
Cascade Head—Hart’s Cove
Directions: At the junction of Hwy 101/18, travel north 3.3 miles to Forest Service Road 1861, west of Highway 101. The trailhead is located at the end of the road, approximately 4 miles.
Length: 2.7 miles
The Hike: The trail traverses steep hillsides to a grassy meadow that overlooks the Pacific Ocean.
Oswald West State Park
Directions: The park is right off Highway 101, roughly 10 miles south of Cannon Beach. Look for the signs and, once you are within the park, choose your trail.
Length: Varies
The Hike: There are a number of trails which you can take to Cape Falcon, which overlooks the Pacific. You can also hike along Short Sands Creek to Short Sands beach, where the creek meets the sea. On your way into the park, pick up a map and choose your path.
Proposal Rock
Directions: Follow the signs from Highway 101 to Neskowin. Pull right off the highway into the parking lot and walk down to the beach.
Length: Varies
The Hike: These trails traverse Proposal Rock, which is located in the middle of the beach—you can’t miss it. The safest way to climb the rock is from the north east side; you’ll see the trailhead. This is also a lovely spot to spend the day swimming and playing by the ocean.
Cape Kiwanda
Directions: From Highway 101, follow the signs to Pacific City. Once in Pacific City, cross over the bridge and turn north. You’ll see the dunes on your left.
Length: Varies.
The Hike: Just northwest of Pacific City is a huge hill of sand, roughly 500 feet high. You can climb up one side and down the other, then hike along the beach; you can hike around the ocean side; you can hike inland to the Sand Lake: create your own route.
Drift Creek Falls
Directions: From Highway 101 (south of Lincoln City but north of Salishan), travel east on Drift Creek Road, right on South Drift Creek Road ¼ mile. Turn left onto Forest Service Road 17. Stay on Forest Service Road 17 to trailhead, approximately 10 miles.
Length: 1.5 miles
The Hike: The trail has a unique feature: a 240 foot suspension bridge that overviews a 75 foot free flowing waterfall with a bird’s eye view of the surrounding tree canopies. This is a gorgeous hike right after the spring rains when the water is flowing quickly.
Honeyman State Park
Directions: From Highway 101 (about 3 miles south of Florence), follow the signs to the Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park.
Length: Varies
The Hike: …is whatever you want it to be. There are two miles of sand dunes between the park and the ocean. Two natural freshwater lakes are within the park: Cleawox -- which is great for swimming -- and Woahink, which has a public boat ramp, is used for all water sports. You can rent canoes, and the park houses the second largest overnight camping area in the state.
Neahkahnie Mountain
Directions: The trailhead is just off Highway 101 about 1 miles north of Manzanita.
Length: 3 miles
The Hike: From the summit of Neahkahnie Mountain, you get a gorgeous view of Nehalem Bay and Manzanita. The hike is a bit steep, but is made significantly easier by a series of switchbacks and, at the top, there are some benches on which you can rest.

Cape Perpetua Trails
Directions: 11 miles south of Waldport at Cape Perpetua Visitor center—follow the signs from Highway 101. From the Visitor Center, you can get a brochure that will describe the available trails.
Length: Varies
The Hike: Explore the cape itself, or explore the numerous trees and plants that can be found on more inland paths. You can access the beach as well.
Restless Waters
Directions: 11 miles south of Waldport on Hwy 101—look for the signs.
Length: 1 mile loop
The Hike: This trail gives the hiker various views of the Pacific Ocean.
Whispering Spruce
Directions: 11 miles south of Waldport on Highway 101 Turn East on Forest Road #55 to the end of the road.
Length:.5 miles
The Hike: Perched 800 feet above the Pacific Ocean, the Whispering Spruce Trail winds 750 ft to a historic rock viewing shelter built in 1934 by Civilian Conservation Corps. This trail provides exceptional views of the Oregon coastline and forest.
Alder Dunes and Lake
Directions: 5 miles north of Florence, turn west from Highway 101 at the campground entrance, follow signs to Alder Dunes trailhead.
Length: 1 mile
The Hike: The trail loops around Alder Lake, Dune Lake, and sand dunes, connecting to Sutton trail (leading to the beach) if you so choose.
Mapleton Hill Pioneer Trail
Directions: The trailhead may be accessed from Mapleton, Oregon, by driving approximately 3 1/2 miles on Forest Road 5070 from Highway 126 at Brickerville. From Florence, Oregon, drive northeast approximately 17 miles on the North Fork Siuslaw Road (Forest Road 5070).
Length:.75 miles
The Hike: The trail is a self guided tour through a bit of history of the area. It takes you on a discovery of the North Fork Trail, which later became the Mapleton Hill Road. As you walk the trail, you'll learn how it developed from a path cut by animals to a road that helped link Eugene and Florence. The road's colorful history includes a covered bridge that collapsed during a snowstorm, and Model T's crashing down steep embankments while trying to negotiate sharp switchbacks. The history of the original road makes it eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. Today's trail covers a portion of the old trail, as well as part of the original road.
Kentucky Falls / Kentucky Creek / North Fork Smith Trails
Directions: From the north, the Kentucky Falls Trailhead is located approximately 15 miles south of Highway 126, and the North Fork Smith Trailhead is located about 5 1/2 miles further to the south. When coming from the south, an alternate route may be taken from Highway 101 near Reedsport, Oregon. The North Fork Smith Trailhead is located approximately 29 miles from Highway 101, and the Kentucky Falls Trailhead is another 8 miles to the north.

The Hike: The trails along Kentucky Creek and the North Fork Smith River provide opportunities for hikers to photograph and enjoy beautiful waterfalls, as well as other natural beauties of this area.
Lily Lake Trail
Directions: 5.5 miles north of Florence, turn west from Highway 101 onto Baker Beach Road.
Length: 1 mile
The Hike: Trail loops around lake and coastal forest, soft sand tread, connects to Baker Beach Trail to the beach.
Heceta Head Lighthouse
Directions: 13 miles east of Florence on Hwy 101 at Heceta Lighthouse State Park
Length: 1 mile
The Hike: This is an easy trail with views of ocean and beach access from parking lot.
Yachats 804 Trail
Directions: Turn west on Lemwick from US 101 in Yachats and look for the signs for the Smelt Sands State Park.
Length: 1.5 miles
The Hike: Before Highway 101 was built traffic used County Road 804 to get from Alsea Bay to Yachats. Now “Country Road 804” has become the historical Yachats 804 trail.
Hobbit Trail
Directions: Six miles north of Florence on the left side of 101 just south of the sign for Carl G. Washburne State Park.
Length: Varies depending on which connecting trails you use.
The Hike: The Hobbit Trail itself leads to a relatively quiet and pristine beach, but it also connects to a number of other trails and to Carl G. Washburne State Park. Choose how to proceed—no matter where you go you will have a great time.

Waxmyrtle Trail
Directions: 7 miles South of Florence off Hwy 101 mile post 198. Turn West onto Siltcoos road 1.5 miles turn left across bridge to trailhead on right side.
Length: 1.5 miles
The Hike: This trail borders the picturesque Siltcoos River Estuary, and ends at the beach. Outstanding views of the lower estuary, ocean beach. Look for signs showing where snowy plover habitat areas are located.
Pine Grove Trail
Directions: From Gold Beach take Jerry's Flat Road (county road 595, Forest Service Road 33) up river about 27 miles to the Illinois River bridge. Trail access is directly off the road.
Length: 5 miles
The Hike: Climbs five miles, from 600 feet elevation to 2700 feet elevation. Follows the divide between the Rogue River and Fox Creek/Lawson Creek. There is a pine grove midway along the trail that offers a pretty view of old growth in a meadow setting. This is fairly easy trail with good views of the Illinois River Canyon.
Siltcoos Lake
Directions: 7 miles south of Florence off Hwy 101 mile post 198. Turn east onto parking lot.
Length: 3 miles
The Hike: This trail has two loops that meet ½ mile up the trail. The South Trail ends at the edge of Siltcoos Lake with one primitive campsite and outhouse. The North Trail also ends at the Lake edge and has five primitive campsite and outhouse. A ¾ mile trail connects both trails.
Lagoon Loop
Directions: 7 miles south of Florance off 101. West on Siltcoos Road, 1.5 miles on right side, trailhead is located in campground.
Length: 1 mile
The Hike: The trail meanders across wooden boardwalks, viewing platforms and paths alongside the Siltcoos River Lagoon.
Chief Siltcoos Trail
Directions: 7 miles south of Florence off Hwy 101, mile post 198
Length: 1 mile
The Hike: The trail winds up and down through a coastal evergreen forest. A viewing bench is located at a spot that gives the hiker a wide open view from the open sand dunes to the ocean beach.
Taylor Dunes Trail
Directions: 7.5 miles south of Florence off Hwy 101. Sign at entrance
Length: 1 mile
The Hike: First ½ mile is accessible with two view decks and a bench with great vistas of the lake and its many birds and aquatic animals, sand dunes, marsh-like deflation plains and the ocean.
Oregon Dunes Overlook
Directions: 10.5 miles north of Reedsport mile post 201 Hwy 101.
Length: 1 mile
The Hike: Trail is paved for the first ½ mile to a viewing area and several picnic sites. The trail then turns and goes down to the open dunes that leads to the beach.
Fish Hook Trail
Directions: From Gold Beach take Jerry's Flat Road (county road 595 turns into Forest Service Road 33) east to Agness. Follow to Forest Service Road 2308 (Burnt Ridge Road), continue on 2308 to Forest Service Road 076. Take this road to the trailhead.
Length: 2 miles
The Hike: Trail follows the ridge top of Fish Hook Peak. It has many splendid views of the Indigo drainage and Kalmiopsis Wilderness. Wildlife, such as elk, deer, bear, and cougar is abundant. Portions of the Silver Fire burn of 1987 are visible. The mosaic of the fire can be seen with the pattern showing how some portions of the land were lightly touched, while others were ravaged by the burn.
Tahkenitch Dunes
Directions: 8 miles north of Reedsport. Mile post 204, Hwy. 101
Length: 2 miles
The Hike: Trail heads out through a mile of conifer forest, opening onto the dunes and views of the ocean. Then re-enters onto a smaller stand of shore pine and ends at the ocean.
Hall / Schuttpelz Lake
Directions: Hwy. 101 to Wildwood Drive across from Tugman State Park . Turn west ¾ mile to gravel entrance ¼ mile to parking lot. Sign at entrance.
Length: 1.5 miles
The Hike: Trail loops around lake with junctions that go to large forested areas. There are high dunes to climb with a view of the ocean.
Threemile Lake
Directions: 8 miles north of Reedsport at mile post 204 Hwy. 101
Length: 3 miles
The Hike: Trail begins in a conifer forest and provides vistas of fresh water lakes, wet areas within the forest and ocean waves. The trail wanders threw a spruce forest with substantial tree size and stops at the serene Threemile Lake and ends at the ocean beach.
Samuel S. Boardman State Park: Thunder Rock Cove to Miner Creek
Directions: Follow the signs to Samuel S. Boardman State Park: it is on the north edge of Brookings off US Highway 101.
Length: 1.5
The Hike: This particular trail is short yet packed with gorgeous views around every turn. You pass through forests, by Wridge Creek, over Miner Creek, and finally to the beach where you can spend the day playing. *There are a number of trails which you can access from Boardman State Park. Redwood Tree Nature Trail
Directions: Take North Bank Road (off Highway 101 just south of Brookings) for eight miles along the Chetco River to the trail head, a half-mile beyond Alfred A. Loeb State Park.
Length: 1 mile
The Hike: This trail takes you through redwoods 300-800 years old—and they could go another 1,000 years! A gorgeous hike through some priceless trees.
